Description
The Northern part of Jotunheimen National Park is home to Norway’s highest summits, with Galdhøpiggen (2469 m.a.s.l.) as the crown jewel. This tour makes these impressive peaks accessible even to hikers without extensive high-mountain experience, but who are ready to test their skills – and boots – on more demanding terrain.
On the first hiking day, choose between Kyrkja, a uniquely shaped peak, or Storbrean, the “big glacier,” beloved by scientists, skiers, and hikers alike. After this introduction to Jotunheimen’s rugged beauty, continue through the scenic valley of Visdalen toward Spiterstulen, surrounded by towering summits.
The final hiking day leads to Juvasshytta, one of Norway’s highest mountain lodges (1841 m.a.s.l.), located next to a summer ski centre. From here, you hike up to Galdhøpiggen itself – the perfect opportunity to stand on Norway’s rooftop and, quite literally, touch the sky.
This tour suits sure-footed hikers comfortable with daily distances of up to 15 km and ascents of up to 950 meters. To keep your backpack light, luggage is transported between lodges. The unique accommodations offer cosy atmospheres and excellent local cuisine, ensuring both body and soul are well nourished throughout the journey.

Our selected daily hikes are well-marked, and you will meet other hikers. The trails are narrow, often rocky, and sometimes you need to cross rivers and streams. Therefore, we recommend ankle-height mountain boots and hiking poles.
You will receive an access to our JVB-app before travelling. This one contains GPX-files, itineraries description and detailed information for your trip.
Equipment
To fully enjoy your hiking adventure in the mountains, it’s important to dress appropriately for the weather conditions and local temperatures. For a comfortable and enjoyable experience, we recommend wearing warm, waterproof clothing, sturdy mountain hiking boots that provide ankle support, sunscreen and sunglasses.
