Welcome to Mjølkevegen sør, the Southern Milk Way! This route is a part of Mjølkevegen, one of the most attractive cycling routes in Norway, stretching from Vinstra to Gol (250 km). The Southern Milk Way trail takes you through some of the route between Golsfjellet, Vaset and Syndin. This route is suitable for active families with some previous cycling experience. It is also perfect for groups with adults as you can combine cycling with short and long hikes or other cycling routes in the area.

From Gomobu mountain lodge, you’ll follow the mountain earthen roads South over Stølsvidda to Golsfjellet, and back to Gomobu through Panoramavegen. The landscape is characterised by its flat terrain with mountain vegetation and small lakes, and in the horizons all around you, you will see magnificent snow covered mountain ranges, and the summits of Valdres; Gilafjell, Grønsenknippa, Storlifjell and Golsfjellet. Along the road there are several seating benches where you can enjoy your lunch. You will pass old summer farms, “støler”, hence the name Stølsvidda, and encounter many a cow and sheep on the way.

This route also offers exciting hikes around the hotels and along the way.

Cycle from Golsfjellet through the scenic Stølsvidda to Gomobu. You will enjoy beautiful views of Jotunheimen and Hemsedalsfjella. Follow the main earthen road, which is mainly used by cyclists and by some cars. The terrain is mostly flat and very nice and easy to cycle on. You will pass beautiful lakes and holiday cabins. There are plenty of places to stop for a rest on the way.

Gomobu – Syndinstøga (via Knippesetvegen)
