New Year winter holiday at Gomobu

Not far from Oslo, but far away in the mountains, you can find Gomobu, a small, traditional mountain lodge in the Norwegian fjells. Surrounded by snow covered hilly mountains we invite you to be our guest during New Year to enjoy the tranquility of a winter wonderland with daily winter activities and superb local cuisine.

Day to day

Day 1: Arrival by Valdresekspressen from Oslo

Different departure times available.
Enjoy the trip from the big city towards Valdres. The express buses take you straight from the capital to the heart of Norway. On the way you will pass mountains, valleys, rivers, and beautiful farms. The buses have free WiFi, power outlets with USB chargers and toilets.

When you arrive at Fagernes, the central village from the region Valdres, somebody from the lodge will pick you up (30 min transfer).

Accommodation: Gomobu Mountain Lodge

Check in and get known with the region.
We will give you the necessary information about the region and a map so you can find the right trails by your own.

If you like, you can already borrow snowshoes or cross-country ski from us and do a tour.

Dinner
We serve the dinner at around 6.30pm.

Day 2:

Breakfast

Breakfast is served as a buffet. You are welcome to do your lunch for the day from the buffet. We will fill your thermos bottle as well with warm drinks.

Activity

It all depends on you – relax in our lounge with a wonderful view or go outside and be active. We have snowshoes for you and cross-country ski. There is as well an alpine skiing slopes close by (not included).

Snowshoeing: It is very easy to use snowshoes and after a short introduction you can go. There are some groomed snowshoe trails around the lodge and we will give you advice where to go.

Cross-country skiing: When you did that before, it is the best way to explore the region. We have up to 140 km groomed trails starting right from our lodge – enough for many exciting trips. The trails take you through forested regions, over open grasslands and up into the treeless fjells.

Dinner: Served at 18.30.

Day 3: New Year´s eve

New Year’s Eve

Today we serve you a delicious 4-course New Year’s Eve dinner.

Fireworks will celebrate the next year.

Day 4: Departure Day

After a lovely breakfast we will bring you back to Fagernes, where the bus to Oslo leaves at 11.45. Arrival in Oslo bus terminal at 14:45.

Arrival/Departure

You will travel with our comfortable busses from Oslo bus terminal to Fagernes in Valdres (about 3 hours), where you will have a pick up from the lodge (30 min). We have several departures/arrivals from Oslo per day and on Fridays and Sundays as well one departure/arrival from Oslo airport (Gardermoen). Please contact us to find the right connection for you.

Accommodation

You will stay at Gomobu Mountain lodge. The lodge is situated in the mountains at 950 m.a.s.l. in the popular cabin region of Vaset in the inland of Norway. From Gomobu you have access to many kilometers of groomed and ungroomed trails for skiing and snowshoeing.

You will stay in the main building in double or single room with private bathroom. Here you will have access to the lounge and the restaurant with a wonderful view over the mountains.

Meals

Breakfast, packed lunch and dinner is included. The lunch you will do yourself at the breakfast buffet and you will get from us warm tea or other drinks for your thermos bottle for the day.

Dinner is served as a 3-course dinner and at New Years eve a 4-course dinner.

Our chefs are using ingredients from local farmers to prepare traditional Norwegian food in a modern style – after your days activity for sure another highlight during your stay.

Activities

You will get from us snowshoes and/or cross-country ski to do your own trips during daytime. You will get a map from the region and useful information where to go. We have 140 kilometers of prepared cross-country tracks starting right in front of the accommodation and snowshoe trails.

Close by, there is as well an alpine skiing slope, if you want to try that.

Sauna: You are welcome to use our sauna – a perfect possibility to relax after a day outside.
