Description
Embark on this 5-days adventure from the little town of Årdal, by the end of the Sognefjord. Surrounded by an amazing nature, the former industrial town is a perfect starting point to explore the area. Either by foot or by kayak, you get to experience the mountains and the fjords during springtime. Imagine green fjords, lush valleys, old mountain farms and waterfalls powered by melting snow in the high mountains. This is the kind of landscape that will accompany you on this trip.
You spend two days with a local guide showing you around Sognefjord and one day hiking by yourself in the beautiful valley of Utladalen, where you get to experience Vettisfossen. A 275 metres high waterfall, the highest free falling one in Northern Europe. This area is especially impressive in the early summer when snow is melting in the mountains and the waterfall are powerful, but other seasons have their charm too and the program is doable too. Summer with the valley full of flowers and fall with the vibrant autumn colours. Do not hesitate letting us know if you prefer travelling later during the season.

Some of the 49 rooms even have a fjord view.

Route
Gravel/trail
Our selected hikes where you walk on your own are well-marked, and you will meet other hikers. Some trails can be narrow and rocky. Therefore, we recommend ankle-height mountain boots.
You will receive an access to our JVB-app before travelling. This one contains GPX-files, itineraries description and detailed information for your trip.
Difficulty
Medium
Some hiking experience is required. The hikes are not very long but the hiking routes vary from gravel road to steep and rocky single-track paths which can be challenging.
On day 4, we will use kayaks to and from the trailhead. No kayak experience is required, but you should feel comfortable in a boat for this to be a nice experience. We think the kayaking add an extra dimension to this hiking adventure, contact us for eventual alternatives without the kayaking.
