Ski the legendary Peer Gynt Trail, a unique cross-country adventure through some of Norway’s most beautiful winter landscapes. Located near the Olympic City of Lillehammer, this self-guided ski tour offers groomed trails, varied terrain, and unforgettable views—perfect for both seasoned skiers and adventurous families.
The 80-kilometre trail stretches from the peaceful Espedalen valley to the charming mountain resort of Skeikampen. Along the way, you’ll enjoy views of the Jotunheimen, Rondane, and Dovrefjell mountain ranges, glide through snow-covered forests, and cross frozen lakes. The route lies at altitudes between 700 and 1,500 metres above sea level, offering stable snow conditions and a magical winter atmosphere.
Named after Henrik Ibsen’s fictional character Peer Gynt, this trail is steeped in Norwegian folklore and culture. As you ski, you’ll pass traditional summer farms and may spot moose or deer in the wild. Each stage of the journey ends at a cozy hotel or mountain lodge in destinations such as Espedalen, Fefor, Gålå, and Skeikampen—areas known for their excellent skiing and hospitality.
You stay two nights at each lodge, allowing flexible skiing days between accommodations. Your luggage is transferred for you, so you only carry a light daypack with essentials.

Meals
At the mountain lodges, we provide delicious meals to fuel your all-day adventures. Breakfast is served as a buffet, where you can also prepare a packed lunch and your thermos for the day. In the evening, enjoy a 2-3 course dinner. Please inform us of any dietary requirements. Water is always available for free, and alcoholic and other beverages can be purchased on site.
Cross-country skis and ski tracks
The trails you will follow are well-marked. These tracks are groomed and good to go without major uphills or difficulties.

Transport
Travel green by using public transport.
You will travel with train from and to Oslo to your ski trip. The shuttle to the first and from the last accomodation will be done by bus. This eco-friendly and comfortable mode of transport ensures a pleasant journey.
