In spring 2024, we could proudly announce that JVB Travel, under the Jotunheimen Travel brand, has entered into a cooperation agreement with DNT Oslo og Omegn. The agreement means, that we will together develop new hiking experiences in the regions DNT Oslo og Omegn is having their cabins and trails and we will market these trips to the international market.

Today we proudly launch our new concept with an exciting range of products. Under the name INSPIRED by DNT, we invite our customers to experience the unique world of DNT, a world that mirrors the traditional Norwegian outdoor life called friluftsliv and conveys genuine Norwegian cultural heritage.

With our new concept under the Jotunheimen Travel umbrella, we want to give our guests an insight into the distinctive features of the DNT environment. We will convey how the DNT cabin system works, the use of the cabins in general, and how the entire system is laid out to provide safety and comfort in the mountains.

Through these trips, our guests will gain a basic understanding of DNT and Norwegian outdoor life before they set off on their trip. They will be well prepared to handle the mountain nature in a safe way, from cooking in self-serviced cabins to following the trail markings.

Everything from the mandatory signing in into the cabin protocol of a self-serviced cabin to taking off their shoes when they enter the cabins – we prepare them for what creates a genuine Norwegian outdoor experience.

Getting inspired by DNT and Norwegian friluftsliv

Our goal with Inspired by DNT is also to be able to expand to more regions that have less turistical infrastructure but unforgettable nature experiences to offer. Norway has so many hidden gems, and we look forward to making arrangements for our guests to experience them.

We start with three new summer tours and two winter tours:

The summer tours take you to Langsua National Park, Skarvheimen and Rondane, while the winter tours go to mountain skiing experiences in Jotunheimen.

Together with DNT Oslo og Omegn, we will market these tours internationally, and Jotunheimen Travel will handle all booking and implementation of the tours, in collaboration with the relevant cabins along the routes.

We are very proud of this collaboration with DNT Oslo og Omegn. That obligates us to a close collaboration with a clear sustainability strategy, which ensures controlled growth on Norwegian hiking trails, to the benefit of everyone. The collaboration between a commercial actor and a charity-based organization is unique, and we feel a great responsibility to set a standard in Norwegian tourism.
