Practical information
All our trips include bus transport from Oslo. Transport from Bergen or Lillehammer can be an added option on request. Our drivers have extensive experience, and give you a safe and good start to the journey.
Travel Documents
When you book a trip with us you will recive a tour description with detailed information about your trip and a voucher with all your tickets around 1 month before your arrival. We will send you this on e-mail. Make yourself familiar with the agenda, and please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We wish you a wonderful journey.
During the Trip
You must have a voucher with you, digitally or analogue as a travel document for drivers, transport and suppliers along the way. Have you ordered physical items for your trip, such as hiking map, you get this either at your first accommodation, or from the bus driver when you enter the bus in Oslo. Here you also get the luggage tag for luggage transport.
After the Trip
For us, it is very important to develop ourselves to become an even better provider of trips in Jotunheimen – therefore we would like you to give us a review, or respond to customer survey you receive on email when you return home.
Accomodation
On a trip with us in Jotunheimen, you will spend the night in selected, cozy high mountain hotels and DNT cabins with a nice atmosphere and local food. For us, it is important that you feel safe when you arrive, that you can relax after a long day with a lot of impressions outside, and that you can enjoy a good night’s sleep, so that you are ready to continue the adventure with new forces the day after.
All our guests basically stay in double rooms. Most accommodations have en suite bathrooms. Bed linen and towels are included *
In some cases, when there is a lot of activity in the accommodation, you can expect to share a room with others. In that case, we will notify you when ordering.
* On some of our trips there is accommodation at Torfinnsbu, here you must bring bed linen, as this is a self-catering cottage. If applicable, you will be notified of this when booking.
Food and Beverages
Food is an important part of the experience – and therefore we have chosen accommodation with a focus on local and nutritious, good food. With this you get to learn about local culture and you save the environment! For breakfast, there is usually a buffet where you also prepare your own packed lunch for the day. Bottles or thermos that you bring with you are filled with water / hot drinks.
Remember that you supply yourself with a generous packed lunch, and bring enough drinks with you so that you have enough energy for your entire day of hiking. We also recommend bringing energy bars, which you can buy at most accommodations, for quick energy replenishment during the activities.
Equipment / Rental Equipment
Correct equipment is important for a good experience on all our trips.
When you book with us, we will provide you with a packing list so you can bring all important items for a successful hike.
If you need equipment for your trip, we can add rental of the following gear:
- Bicycles (adapted to the trips along the Mjølkevegen and the Tour de Dovre)
- Cross-country skis for our cross-country ski packages
- Snowshoes
If you take pictures along the way and you want to share them with us on social media you can use the tag #jotunheimentravel!
