Discover Jotunheimen on horseback with bus from Oslo

Experience the exhilaration of horseback riding amidst the serene snowscapes of Norway’s mountainous terrain, nestled near the enchanting Jotunheimen and Langsua National Park. Depart from Oslo on our comfortable express bus. Upon arrival at the farm, enjoy some snacks and receive essential riding equipment. Explore the snowy terrain, pause at a traditional mountain farm, and savor a warm meal by the campfire before returning to Oslo.

Program

Early in the morning (8.30am) you will leave Oslo with our comfortable bus. Enjoy the scenic journey from Oslo to the Valdres Region. After leaving the bustle of the capital you will soon find yourself on countryside roads passing through small towns and surrounded by frozen lakes and snowy fields. As you get further into the country, you will see the mountains of Jotunheimen in the distance. Your destination for today. The coach has adjustable seats, free WiFi, outlets with USB charging ports and toilet facilities on board.

Your guide for the day will meet you at the farm, where we will serve you something to eat and drink while you receive some practical information about today’s adventure and before we head to the horses. You will get the necessary equipment for your ride and pack your food, drink, and trip essentials into the saddle bags. Once you have been assigned your horse for the day, beginners will receive instructions from the guide on how to start, stop and turn. Then you’re ready for the trip.

When everyone is feeling refreshed and relaxed after a break, we start the trek back to the farm. Then it’s time to give your goodbye hugs to the horses and thank them for the trip. The bus back to Oslo leaves at 6pm and you will arrive in Oslo at around 22pm.

Important details

Experience:
Our experienced guide will give you a basic introduction on how to start, stop and steer the horse, before heading out on the trip. Older children and/or those with some experience and adults can ride alone. However young children and inexperienced riders will have someone to lead their horse. This can be either a trek assistant or a parent. Parents will get an introduction to how to lead the horse safely. If you want to ride yourself but would like one of our trek assistants to lead your child’s horse, please remember to let us know in advance.

Changes in the program:
When the weather is unpleasant, we might change the program and have the meal at the farm instead of outside at the bonfire.
