Ski Tracks
Kamben on Golsfjellet offers excellent cross-country skiing in open, high-mountain terrain between Hallingdal and Valdres. The area features approximately 150–200 km of groomed trails, with varied routes suited for both classic and skate skiing. From Kamben Høyfjellshotell, skiers have direct access to a well-connected trail network linking Golsfjellet, Storefjell, and Oset.
In addition to skiing, Kamben offers unique possibilities for marked snowshoeing trails, allowing guests to explore quieter routes through forest terrain and across open mountain landscapes at their own pace. These trails provide an alternative way to experience the winter scenery, ideal for those seeking a different activity besides skiing.
The terrain alternates between sheltered birch forest and wide mountain plateaus, offering good weather protection and expansive views toward Jotunheimen and Hemsedalsfjella on clear days. Snow conditions are generally stable from December through April, making Kamben suitable for both leisure and advanced skiers.
Difficulty
Easy to Moderate
This trip is suitable for guests with some initial cross-country skiing experience. The routes lead through gently to moderately hilly terrain with some longer climbs and gentle descents. Basic skiing technique and a normal level of fitness are recommended. The tracks offer varied landscapes and well-prepared trails. The actual difficulty may vary depending on personal experience, fitness level, weather conditions, and the condition of the ski tracks.
Support fee for cross-country trail maintenance
A small fee is included in your trip to support local cross-country skiing clubs that maintain and prepare all the ski tracks you use during your stay. Most of the work in these clubs is done voluntarily by local residents who dedicate time and effort to keep the trails in good condition throughout the winter. The contribution helps cover equipment, fuel, and maintenance. With this fee, you help to support local communities and ensure that a wide network of well-prepared ski tracks remain available throughout the winter.
