For a special experience, join a guided snowshoe evening tour under the stars. You can also enrich your stay with unforgettable activities such as dogsledding through pristine nature and traditional horse-sleigh rides across the snowy countryside.
Cozy christmas atmosphere at a family run lodge
During the festive season, Christmas Eve is celebrated in true Norwegian style—with a cozy atmosphere, great food, warm hospitality, and time spent together by the fireplace. For an authentic cultural touch, you may also visit the atmospheric Christmas service at the charming church in Gol.
Each day can be tailored to your preferences: stay active outdoors, try cross-country skiing, or unwind in the sauna or lounge with a warm drink and a good book.
Your journey is smooth and sustainable, with train travel from Oslo to Gol followed by a short transfer to the lodge. Throughout your stay, you will enjoy excellent local cuisine and the personal service of a family-run mountain lodge—creating a truly memorable Christmas experience in Norway.

Important Details
To fully enjoy your skiing adventure in the mountainous areas, it’s important to dress appropriately for the weather conditions and local temperatures. For a comfortable and enjoyable experience, we recommend wearing warm, waterproof clothing, and bringing sunscreen and sunglasses.
The winter season starts with short days with daylight, but then you will get a lot of clear starry sky, and if you are lucky even northern light. Bring a headlamp and ski in the dark! From around mid Febuary, you will get longer days.

Kamben Høyfjellshotell
Kamben Hotel, located on Golsfjellet, is a charming mountain hotel with a long tradition of hospitality and a cozy, relaxed atmosphere. The welcoming hosts make sure guests feel at home from the moment they arrive. The hotel is known for its excellent cuisine, offering delicious five-course dinners made from locally sourced ingredients that reflect the tastes of the region. Kamben is also a great base for a variety of activities in all seasons.
In summer and autumn, guests can explore scenic trails or rent gravel bikes to discover quiet mountain roads and open landscapes. In winter, the area transforms into a cross-country skiing paradise. With its combination of great food, personal service, and access to outdoor adventures, Kamben offers a balanced mix of comfort and activity in beautiful surroundings. It’s a place where Norwegian mountain traditions are kept alive—while still offering modern touches for today’s traveller.
Meals
The restaurant offers food based on local ingredients. For breakfast there will be buffet. Here you also need to make yourself a packed lunch that you bring to lunch for the day. It is possible to fill a thermos, check with the accommodation. Dinner will be served in the afternoon/evening.
Snowshoeing Tracks
The tracks run through varied, rolling terrain, from spruce and birch forests up to the high open plains with wonderful views. The forest tracks offer protection from windy and snowy weather while the tracks on the mountain plateau offer wide views on fine days. In general, the tracks are easy to intermediate with not too long and not too steep ascends and easy, fun downhill runs and flat parts in between.

Easy to Moderate
This trip is suitable for guests with some initial snowshoeing experience or a normal level of fitness. The routes lead through gently to moderately hilly terrain with some longer climbs and occasional steeper sections. A steady walking pace and basic familiarity with snowshoeing are recommended. The routes offer varied landscapes and may include both forested areas and more open terrain. The actual difficulty may vary depending on personal experience, fitness level, snow conditions, and weather.

Transport
When travelling with us, the bus / train ride from and to Oslo is included in your journey. The buses / trains start in the city center of Oslo. The ride to the Jotunheimen and Valdres area takes approximately 4 to 5 hours depending on where your trip starts/ends.
Departure times vary depending on the season and the days.
*Note: Depending on the season, your day of arrival and your final destination, there might be more or less departures, also there might be departures straight from Oslo Gardermoen airport to Jotunheimen and Valdres. This can apply also to the journey back to Oslo. Please share your travel plans with us and we will find the best possible bus departures according to your trip.
