The Jotunheimen cross-country trail winds through serene forests and rugged mountain landscapes, stretching from Lemonsjøen towards lake Gjende and into the heart of Jotunheimen National Park.
The trails are meticulously groomed and are well-marked to ensure your safety. Along the way, you may be lucky enough to encounter reindeer or moose as they cross your path.
Take time to soak in the magical surroundings and listen to the stillness. You will stay in cozy, family-run mountain lodges and cabins, with several nights in each location, giving you ample time to explore the area and savor mountain life. Exceptional culinary experiences await, featuring wild Norwegian delicacies like reindeer, moose, venison, and trout.
You’ll also spend two nights in a cabin at Sjodalen Hyttetun, where you can try dog sledding. The journey concludes with two nights at Bessheim, near the breathtaking Besseggen Ridge at the edge of Jotunheimen National Park.

General notice about necessary experience
Embarking on a multi-day cross-country ski tour is achievable for anyone in normal to good shape and who is eager to learn skiing and be active outdoors in winter.
Luggage transport
We will send your luggage from accomodation to accomodation, so you only need to bring a daypack.

Lemonsjøen Fjellstue
Lemonsjøen fjellstue offers a serene and tranquil atmosphere surrounded by stunning natural landscapes. The air is crisp and clean, with the sounds of birds and wildlife providing a peaceful soundtrack. The cozy cabins and warm hospitality of the staff make for a comfortable and relaxing stay.
Sjodalen Hyttetun
Famous for its location right in the middle of Sjoadalen surrounded by light forest you can enjoy the silence and tranquility of the winterly North! In Sjodalen you will stay in cozy cabins and you will have the chance to go on a dogsledding trip from there if you like!
Bessheim Fjellstue
Bessheim Fjellestue og hytter has a long history at his back and is an original sætre (mountain pasture) which has been welcoming guests since 1890, thanks to Henrik Ibsen’s “Peer Gynt”, which gave visibility to the area. For those seeking outdoorsy activities or simply a quiet and temporary retreat from the modern world Bessheim is a perfect place. Throughout the seasons, guests can enjoy a variety of activities, be it hiking, skiing, fishing, hunting and more!
Meals
At the mountain lodges, we provide delicious meals to fuel your all-day adventures. Breakfast is served as a buffet, where you can also prepare a packed lunch and your thermos for the day. In the evening, enjoy a 2-3 course dinner. Please inform us of any dietary requirements. Water is always available for free, and alcoholic and other beverages can be purchased on site.
Cross-country skis and ski tracks
The trails you will follow are well-marked. These tracks are groomed and good to go without major uphills or difficulties.

When you book with us, we’ll provide you with a packing list to ensure you have all the necessary clothing and gear.
Transport
Travel green by using public transport.
You will travel with train from Oslo (or Trondheim) to Jotunheimen. This eco-friendly and comfortable mode of transport ensures a pleasant journey. All trains and buses are equipped with USB-charking ports, comfortable seats, toilets, and WiFi.
