Climb The Torfinnstind Traverse
Torfinnstraversen is a famous trip for experienced climbers in Jotunheimen National Park and consists of a combination of the three Torfinnstind’s peaks: Øystre Torfinnstind, Midtre Torfinnstind and Vestre Torfinnstind. This is a unique possibility of combining three 2000-meter peaks in a day.
This is a very demanding trip that requires some scrambling, climbing and rappelling as it evolves on steep and rocky faces from peak to peak. Therefore you are accompanied by a guide that will show you the way and help you rappelling.
You reach the starting point of the hike by boat with M/B Bitihorn from Bygdin. It usually takes between 8 and 12 hours to complete the trip, so it requires that you are in good shape and used to long days in the mountains. Your effort is rewarded by spectacular views over all of Jotunheimen making it more than worth it and guaranteeing you memories for life.
As you come back after the last boat of the day, you get the chance to spend a night at Torfinnsbu DNT cabin and experience the real Norwegian mountain experience before taking the boat back to Bygdin the day after. Are you ready for some vertiginous and unique adventure?

To fully enjoy your hiking adventure in the mountains, it’s important to dress appropriately for the weather conditions and local temperatures. The weather at high altitudes in Norway can change quickly, and a snowstorm can happen every month of summer. For a comfortable and enjoyable experience, we recommend having with you warm, waterproof clothing, sturdy mountain hiking boots that provide ankle support, suncream and sunglasses. It is not recommended to wear trail running shoes, everyday shoes, or sneakers.
The guide will provide you with all necessary equipment needed for climbing, such as helmets, harnesses and ropes.
