If you’d like to get the most in-depth experience of Mjølkevegen, the Grand Tour is the perfect option for you. This 8-day self-guided bicycle tour cover all highlights of Mjølkevegen. Taking you from the wooded Lemonsjøen in the north, through Norway’s highest mountain range Jotunheimen, to the more inhabited and cultivated southern part. The route covers approximately 260 km, depending on chosen route. Enjoy cycling from lodge to lodge while we take care of transporting your luggage.

Bike Rental
When you rent a bike from us, you can pick it up at your first accommodation and leave it at the last one. The price includes a helmet, mud guard, lock, a rep kit and the bike transfer back to Lemonsjøen. All pedals are flat. On this trip, you can choose from an e-bike, a gravel bike or a mountain bike.

Important details
To fully enjoy your cycling adventure in the mountainous areas, it’s important to dress appropriately for the weather conditions and local temperatures. For a comfortable and enjoyable experience, we recommend wearing warm, waterproof clothing, sturdy shoes for cycling, and bringing sunscreen and sunglasses.

We will send your luggage from lodge to lodge, so you only need to bring a daypack.
Add on
Travel to Bergen instead of Oslo: NOK 150
You can choose to end your trip in Bergen instead of Oslo. Then you will take the bus from Fagernes in the opposite direction.
Fjord cruise from Flåm to Bergen: NOK 1.495
When ending your trip in Bergen, you can travel the last bit by boat from Flåm to Bergen (5 hours). This is a perfect way to also experience Norway’s beautiful and deep fjords.
Extra night in Oslo or Bergen: Prices on request
If you are interested in seeing the capital of Norway or/and the second largest city of the country, you can add nights before or after your cycling trip. We recommend it for more time to explore and a stress-free travel.
Accommodations
Lemonsjø Fjellstue:
Lemonsjøen fjellstue offers a serene and tranquil atmosphere surrounded by stunning natural landscapes. The air is crisp and clean, with the sounds of birds and wildlife providing a peaceful soundtrack. The cozy cabins and warm hospitality of the staff assure you a comfortable and relaxing stay.
Ruten Fjellstue:
Ruten has been welcoming tourists since 1939. Berit and Arthur, who own and run the lodge today, are the 3rd hosts generation. The kitchen is the heart of the lodge, which preferably serves local ingredients, based on recipes that have been used for generations, but with new twists.
Bygdin Høifieldshotel:
This hotel has a long tradition of hosting active mountain people who want to visit Jotunheimen. Even tho many rooms were renovated you will get a historical atmosphere. The food is for sure to be the highlight of your stay. Delicious dinners are made from local ingredients and served with love.
Filefjellstuene:
Here you will get a cozy cabin feeling. Food is served in the main building close by. Once a traditional mountain farm, now a modern mountain lodge with comfortable rooms in cabins with en suite bathrooms, and a great restaurant in the main lodge.
Syndinstøga:
Here there are 22 beds divided into 2 apartments with ensuite bathroom and 3 hunting lodges with shared sanitaries. They have a great restaurant and pub, with cozy atmosphere, home-made buns and beautiful views. Syndinstøga has as well a small shop selling some usefull products for people staying in cabins nearby or for travellers who might have forgotten something at home.
Gomobu Mountain Lodge:
Known for its cozy atmosphere and friendly hosts, Gomobu is a welcoming mountain lodge on the edge of Valdresfjellet. The lodge serves tasty, locally sourced food that reflects the region’s traditions and flavours. Guests can choose from a variety of accommodation options, including comfortable modern rooms in the main lodge and fully equipped cabins suitable for families and groups.
Kamben Høyfjellshotell:
Kamben Hotel, located on Golsfjellet, is a charming mountain hotel with a long tradition of hospitality and a cozy, relaxed atmosphere. The welcoming hosts make sure guests feel at home from the moment they arrive. The hotel is known for its excellent cuisine, offering delicious five-course dinners made from locally sourced ingredients that reflect the tastes of the region.
Meals
All restaurants offer food based on local ingredients. For breakfast there will be buffet. Here you also need to make yourself a packed lunch that you bring for the day. Use your beeswax food wrap which you recieve from us on arrival. It is possible to fill a thermos, check with the accommodation on how to do this. Dinner will be served in the afternoon/evening
Route
Gravel/trail
Most of the trail follows well-maintained gravel roads, which may have occasional potholes but are generally in good condition. There are also some brief sections on asphalt or trails.
You will receive an access to our JVB-app before travelling. This one contains GPX-files, itineraries description and detailed information for your trip.

Kilometers: 20-65 kilometres
Altitude: up to 1000 meters elevation
Terrain: fine gravel roads or asphalt, can be short sections with a path
Trips are mainly on good gravel or asphalt roads, but there may be shorter sections where you will have to wheel a bit in rough terrain. 1-2 daily stages can reach up to 60 kilometers and over 1000 altitude meters. There may be somewhat longer climbing stages. If the Easy level suits you with a pedal bike, you can perhaps manage the Medium level with an e-bike
